Auditions For AMAHL AND THE NIGHT VISITORS Saturday, September 7, 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. Sunday, September 8, 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. Musical Artists Theater announces open auditions for Gian-Carlo Menotti’s beloved American opera, Amahl and the Night Visitors. This beautiful one-act opera, sung in English, tells the simple story of a crippled shepherd boy who encounters three kings following a star in the midwinter night. Singers and dancers of all ages are encouraged to audition for the chorus, dance ensemble or principal roles. Children and parents, especially those living in the South Baltimore community, are especially welcome to audition with or without experience. CAST Amahl – boy soprano, 10-14 years old Mother – soprano or mezzo-soprano King Kaspar – tenor King Melchior – baritone King Balthazar – bass The Page – baritone/bass Chorus of Shepherds and Villagers – men, women and children of all ages Dancers – small ensemble of male and female dancers. Auditions will be held at Riverside Stage, 1530 Battery Avenue, Baltimore, 21230. Appointments are not necessary; come any time during open audition hours. Adult singers should prepare a song, and either bring an accompaniment CD or sing a capella; an accompanist will NOT be provided. Performances will be in December.
